TFT had an amazing group of athletes at the Deka World Championships this year. We're so proud of the work that they did all year long to prepare for this event, and we're going to use this whole article to brag about their accomplishments. They deserve the recognition.
Athletes are listed in alphabetical order by first name.
Catherine: We've been blessed to work with Catherine for several years. She's consistently improved her performance in Hybrid racing because she embraces the challenge and works hard. Last year she competed at The Camp Gladiator Games and Deka events, and this year she took another step forward. She is an Age Group DekaFit Team World Champion with her teammate Paulette. 1st place at a World Championship is a huge accomplishment, and a well deserved one for Catherine. Not only was it 1st place, but it was a 2 minute PR for Catherine and Paulette. Catherine also competed in the Age Group Deka Strong Teams event with Susan. They finished in 11th place in 14:28.
Joy: Joy, aka The Bionic Women, has worked through knee replacements in the past 2 years. Despite that, she competed in the Age Group DekaFit World Championship Team event with Susan and they put up a great time of 43:25. Joy continues to compete and constantly improves as she puts in the time and effort needed to be successful. Having both knees replaced is a huge deal, but she hasn't let it slow her down.
Kim: We've been working with Kim for a while, and most of this year was focused on improving at Deka. Well, Kim put in hard training and kept improving. She qualified for her Age Group at Deka World's, and she finished Deka Strong in 18:23...absolutely awesome work. Kim worked extremely hard to reach this point, and it showed every step of the way.
Mariesa: She dedicated her training all year long towards Deka. She put in so much work and training that she was number 13 female overall in 2024 on the Global Leaderboard. Mariesa is so efficient and puts fort the maximum effort into these events. She completed the Deka Strong World Championship, and then followed it up with 5th place in the Deka Strong Co-Ed Team event with Coach Luke. They finished in 9:48...places 2-5 were all within 8 seconds of each other in a super tight race.
Sarah: We've had the privilege of working with Sarah for about 2 years now. This was Sarah's first year competing at Deka (or Hybrid racing in general). She came from Spartan Race where she finished 3rd in the Age Group series last year - most impressively as she lives in an area with very flat terrain, but competed at Spartan events on large mountains and placed well every single time. Sarah worked extremely hard this year to make the switch to DekaFit events, and it all paid off. On Friday at the World Championships, she finished 4th place for DekaFit and set a PR of 60 seconds; an enormous improvement, and a testament to her work ethic.
William: We've had the pleasure of working with Will for quite a while now. He competed with his brother for the Deka Mile Age Group and they crushed it as a duo with a fantastic time of 20:13. He also did the Age Group DekaFit World Champion in 41:23. Will works insanely hard and every single year he's continued to improve both his overall fitness and his Deka times.
Thanks for letting us brag about some of the amazing athletes that we get to work with.
