QUESTION 1: How many times have you purchased photos from a Spartan Race event? (It's okay if you don't know the specific number, just take your best guess).
This question by itself doesn't tell us a lot. The racers who purchased photos 1-3 times may have only completed 1-3 races since photos became a paid-for option. However, as we go through the remainder of the survey questions, they may provide more insight to this question.
QUESTION 2: On a scale from 1-10, what did you think about the quality of the photos that you paid for at a Spartan Race event? (If you've paid for photos at multiple Spartan Races, give your overall opinion of the quality)
Most people said that the photo quality was between 5-8 on a scale from Terrible Quality (1) to Amazing Quality (10). For the professional photography business that Spartan Race has contracted, I'd say it looks bad to have 39 of 85 people saying that the photo quality is 5 or less on this scale. If you buy a photo package, it's around $30.00. That's a lot of money for photos that nearly half of the surveyed Spartans think are average-to-bad.
QUESTION 3: Were you happy about the variety of photos from the Spartan Race event? (variety/number of obstacles, multiple shots at each obstacle, etc.)
This one was disappointing for me to see. I don't know how many photographers are out on course, but one would think, given the cost per photo package, that they would have several photographers working some of the "cooler" obstacles all day. I don't care if there isn't a picture of me going over a hurdle, but I do care if there are photos of me at the more exciting/challenging obstacles. Wherever they've gone wrong, they've gone wrong, because 65/85 people think they could do better at the very least.
QUESTION 4: Would you recommend that a friend pay for photos from a Spartan Race event?
These answers, above all others, tell us what people think about the paid photos at Spartan Race. I love recommending products/services that I find valuable to friends because I think they will also find them valuable. It's clear that this group of surveyed Spartans doesn't find the photos valuable enough to recommend that a friend spend their money on the photos.
