Hyrox VS DekaFit - Which Is Right For You?

Updated: Dec 11

If you've never done an event with these companies, you might be wondering which one is a better fit for you. Only you can decide that, and I would recommend giving both a try, because you won't really know until you do it. That said, we can certainly break things down so you can decide which you want to train for and attempt first. So, Hyrox vs DekaFit...which is right for you?

hyrox vs dekafit

Here are a few questions to ask yourself in this decision that will make it quite easy to decide.

1: Do you love running?

If you do love running, Hyrox has 8K of running. DekaFit has 5K of running. Obviously, with an extra 3K of running, Hyrox might appeal more to the run-lovers. Some of the other Stations at Hyrox are the Wall Balls and Weighted Lunges. Both of these events require a lot of lower body endurance which may translate better for a runner if they practice the movement.

Step into a Hyrox training program that let's you feel the difference in your fitness. Ignite is a Hyrox-centered program designed for athletes of all levels. As you work through each session, you'll notice your endurance building, your strength growing, and your confidence increasing with every workout. Sign Up for Ignite Today! You won't make progress by waiting.

2: Do you hate running?

If so, you are probably going to enjoy Deka Strong and Deka Mile more than the events listed in the last paragraph. Deka Strong includes no running at all and is simply 10 workout Zones all in a row, while Deka Mile only has 160m of running between each Zone - far less than Hyrox and DekaFit.

3: Are you a bigger and/or stronger athlete?

If yes, you may do really well with the weights at Hyrox and the format for Deka Strong. The Sled Push/Pull at Hyrox isn't light (especially for the competitive heats). The Farmers Carries and Lunges are also quite heavy compared to Deka events. Stronger athletes will LIKELY do better at several stations at Hyrox vs DekaFit where the weights are much lighter overall.

**Of note, DekaFit just released a new race format called Deka Atlas. You can read more about this format by viewing this article: Deka Atlas - What Is It? There should be signups available for this format starting in early 2025**

4: Do you enjoy the Rower and Skierg?

If you do not enjoy these, then DekaFit events might be a better fit for you because the distances on both of these machines are shorter at DekaFit than they are at Hyrox. I'm saying you'll spend less time on them, so you might be happy about that.

5: Do you love the Air Bike (Assault Bike, Echo Bike, etc.)?

Hyrox does not use the Air Bike in their race format, so this should make your choice very easy. Deka uses the Air Bike (you must completed 25 calories) at DekaFit, Deka Mile, and Deka Strong. They do not, however, include the Air Bike in Deka Atlas.

6: Do you love competing as a team?

Racing as a team can be SO very fun. Fortunately for you, both Hyrox and DekaFit offer team races. Get with your teammate and use the other questions from this article to decide which event the team as a whole would rather do.

I hope these article has given you a better idea of which race might be best for you! Personally, I'd recommend that you try both. Both races are exciting, fun, and a great challenge for training.
