The Best Socks For Rucking 2024

Updated: Jul 14

We released a survey to find out which socks are the best for rucking. We had 250 people respond (THANK YOU to all who responded), and we've compiled the data below. One thing to note before we get into the data is that the survey did NOT account for those who double sock. In the comments, there were a lot of people who double sock when rucking. It's something we'll add onto the survey in 2025, but for 2024, here are the results.

For those who take their rucking extremely seriously, we offer a Customized Ruck Program with 2 days of ruck training and one day of strength training. The program is extremely detailed - we program distance, time, pace, weight, and terrain for the rucking portion, and the strength portion is designed to make you strong overall, but with a focus on total lower body strength to make you a better, more injury resistant rucking athlete.

Question 1: Which BRAND of Sock do you CURRENTLY, MAINLY use for Rucking? If the brand you use isn't listed, please add the one you do use.

Darn Tough blew this one out of the water. Injinji and Smartwool made a pretty close 2nd and 3rd. After that, the drop-offs were huge. Sock brands that were also listed/added, but only received 1 vote each were: H20, GRIP6, Pro Socks, Under Armour, REI, EXOSKIN, Reebok, Swiftwick, and about 10 others. Personally, I have used Darn Tough for trail running and rucking for many years, so I would have voted the same as most.

Question 2: What were the 3 Most Important Factors you considered when purchasing your FAVORITE sock brand for Rucking? Please select ONLY your Top 3 reasons.

You'll see how Quality/Durability plays into the next and final question from the survey. Rucking presents a unique challenge in comparison to running. TYPICALLY, blisters are rare from normal running in normal socks. However, with Rucking, people experience blisters a LOT, and that's the majority of the reason why all these special socks for rucking exist. Comfort, durability, and blister prevention are key.

Question 3: How much money are you willing to spend on a SINGLE PAIR of your favorite Rucking socks? (Price in USA Dollars)

cost of rucking socks

Because people want quality, durable socks, they are willing to PAY. If I had never rucked, I would have thought that paying $20-$30 per pair of socks was insane. However, once you put those socks on, and you feel the difference, and you experience the comfort and how they take care of your feet...it's a no-brainer. Personally, I've rucked hundreds of miles in Darn Tough socks, and they are just as good today as when I bought them 3+ years ago. Worth every penny.

That's it! We hope you found this information valuable and helpful!
